Agartala, June 22, 2021 : Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Monday inaugurated the statewide two days special Covid-19 vaccination drive along with the rest of the country to vaccinated people above 18 years of age on free of cost.
The inauguration programme of the statewide special Covid vaccination drive held at IMA House in Agartala on the day of International Yoga and simultaneously the vaccination has been launched in 1342 more vaccination centres across eight districts of the state.
Addressing the inauguration programme , Chief Minister said that it’s a historic step by the central government to vaccination large section of the people under 18 to 44 years through two days special drive. The vaccination drive for the people of 18 to 44 years has launched across the country by the bold and humanitarian step by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with the initiative of the state government, among the target population of 16 lakh, above 3 lakh people of this group have already vaccinated in the state, said Deb.
Deb said every citizen of the state should play their role in helping combat the Coronavirus pandemic and make the vaccination campaign successful. We have to fulfill the duty of humanity and it should be our endeavour that no person is left out from vaccination, said Deb.
He said that after special two days drive, the vaccination programme will continue everyday across the state till coverage of 100 % population of the targeted group. Tripura has been ranked first in the country for vaccination of people above 45 years of age and now, state will move forward to get top position in the country for vaccination of people above 18 years of age, said Deb.
Deb appealed to the people of the state to come forward for vaccination to defeat Covid pandemic and all urges also clubs and organizations to contribute their best to fulfill the target of the state government.
Speaking in the programme, Principal Secretary of Health, J K Sinha said every person should get the protective shield of the vaccine to prevent the spread of the pandemic. During the second wave of Covid infection, the entire health services has been decentralized for better treatment facilities and under the guidance of Chief Minister all necessary steps are being taken to provide better treatment to the people of the state, said Sinha.
