Virke Reiseliv, part of the Federation of Norwegian Enterprise, believes that Norway must give priority to being linked to the EU’s vaccine passport solution. Virke considers the scheme to be important for re-opening travel-related business.

On Wednesday, the European Commission presented its proposal for a digital vaccine passport, which should make it easier to travel between EU countries. The EU allowed Norway to join, and Virke Reiseliv believes Norwegian authorities should prioritize the initiative.

The leader of Virke Reiseliv, Astrid Bergmål, believes that the vaccine passport will be very important to get the travel business back on track in a safe and reasonable way.

“We are pleased that it is proposed that negative test result information should also be included in the vaccine passport, so that those who have not yet received the vaccine when summer arrives, or who for various reasons could not get the vaccine, can also have the opportunity to travel,” Bergmål said.

She says that Virke expects the authorities to provide a simple solution that allows information about vaccines, antibodies, or test results to be automatically registered in each individual’s vaccine passport.
