A standoff has emerged overnight in Europe over the future rollout of the AstraZeneca vaccine after the EU threatened to block vaccine exports by seizing factories. The 27-nation bloc wants to receive its fair share of doses in return after exporting 41 million doses to 33 countries. Approximately 10 million have been sent to Britain where about 37 percent of the population have now been vaccinated however zero jabs developed in the UK’s two AstraZeneca factories have been sent back to Europe. The United Kingdom has accused the EU of brinkmanship after its export threat. European officials have so far approved 314 exports and rejected just one a shipment of 250 thousand AstraZeneca doses to Australia.
