The Covid-19 pandemic is escalating at an alarming rate in Zambia, with a new record of 18 deaths over the last 24 hours.
One thousand and 29 cases have also been recorded in the last 24 hours.
Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya says of the 18 deaths, eleven are community while seven are from health facilities.
Dr. Chilufya disclosed this during a Covid-19 update.
The Minister also called for a moment of silence in honour of Prominent Professor of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at the University of Zambia, Kumar Sridutt Baboo who died last night.
