Molina Healthcare of California has funded nearly $320,000 worth of personal protective equipment for health-care professionals and local community-based organizations. Among the recipients are Community Health Association Inland Southern Region in San Bernardino, a nonprofit organization supporting community health centers and clinics; and Community Care on Palm, a skilled nursing facility in Riverside. Molina has identified provider partners and nonprofits most in need and has supplied more than 35,000 three-ply masks, N95 masks and antibody test kits. The contribution is supporting small clinics, skilled nursing facilities, federally qualified health centers, county health departments and larger health systems throughout California. “Molina is proud to supply our health care provider and community partners on the front lines with the equipment and resources they need to safely serve others during this ongoing public health crisis,” John Kotal, plan president of Molina Healthcare of California, said in a news release. .”Molina Healthcare has been an amazing community partner for many years, but never more important than during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Bill Cruikshank, executive director at Meals on Wheels of Long Beach, said in the news release. “When vital PPE, hand sanitizer and surgical masks were nowhere to be found, Molina came to our rescue by supporting our PPE needs” Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Molina has been identifying provider partners and community organizations that require monetary support to help address COVID-19 shortages and emergency needs. This donation for the purchase of PPE follows Molina’s more than $400,000 in donations to dozens of California-based organizations that are supporting individuals and families with food, supplies and other resources, according to the news release.
