The Government have announced they will “extend the rules currently in force” in the fight against the pandemic in the continental territory, within the scope of the new state of emergency extended until January 15th.

Due to the increase in the number of new cases on Wednesday and Thursday, the Government decided to maintain circulation restrictions among all 278 counties of the continent this weekend, valid between 23:00 today (Friday) and 05:00 on Monday, except for exceptional reasons, such as health issues or “imperative urgency”. In addition to this measure, the inhabitants of 253 counties on the continent are also subject to curfews and the consequent prohibition of driving on public roads on Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm and until 5 am the next day.

Only five municipalities in the Algarve will remain at the Moderate Risk level, as they have less than 240 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, in the last 14 days. Alcoutim, Aljezur, Lagoa, Monchique and Vila do Bispo are the municipalities where the traffic prohibition measures will not be applied.
