Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, has assured the people of Katsina-Ala and Ukum Local Government Areas that the State security council will review the ongoing security situation in the area which made government to impose a ban on the operations of motorcycles popularly known as”Okada”in the area.
Ortom, in a statement made available to AljazirahNigeria, Thursday, in Makurdi, through his chief press secretary Mr. Terver Akase, while reacting to reports that some security personnel charged with the responsibility of enforcing the ban on the use of Motorcycles in Katsina-Ala and Ukum, had impounded and burnt seven motorcycles at Kyado, in Ukum Local Government belonging to violators of the ban said government has considered reviewing the situation very soon.
According to governor Ortom, the Benue State Security Council will meet next week to review the situation in Katsina-Ala and Ukum Local Government Areas following the recent ban on motorcycles in the affected areas and thereby appealed for calm.
Ortom,who reaffirmed the resolve of his administration to sustain the support given to security agencies for the protection of lives and property in all parts of the state also assured the people of the affected Local Government Areas and the entire state that the security council will review the ongoing operations next week in the affected areas.
