Aweil Hospital in Northern Bahr El Ghazal is facing serious shortage of drugs; Director in Aweil Teaching hospital Dr. Wol Wol Akeen revealed the report to Juba Monitor on Wednesday.

Director Wol expressed that due to absence of drugs in the hospital, cases of malaria have increased drastically.

“Aweil Teaching hospital has got enough doctors compared to other years back and patients are getting their normal treatment on daily bases but our store has got no drugs, that is why sometimes we send the patients to go and buy their drugs outside,” Dr. Wol expressed.

He said the hospital has eight government medical doctors who are being assisted by MSF specialists as partners.

He called on the National Ministry of Health to supply necessary drugs that are needed in the hospital as soon as possible to address the current shortage of medicines in the hospital.

Akon Bol, a patient, urged the government to supply the medicines to the Hospital so that those vulnerable persons could get treatment free of charge.

Patient Bol appealed to the hospital to help those who are under intensive care in the hospital.
